What is CIMZIA?
CIMZIA is a biologic medicine that is FDA-approved
for the treatment of adults with moderately to severely
active rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It is available by
prescription only.
What is a biologic medicine?
A biologic is a drug that copies the effects of substances
naturally made by your body’s immune system.
These kinds of drugs may lessen inflammation by blocking
substances that cause or worsen the inflammation.
Can CIMZIA work quickly to relieve my
RA symptoms?
Yes. In clinical trials, CIMZIA has been shown to reduce
RA pain, stiffness, and fatigue as fast as one to two
weeks for some patients and within six months for most.
Can CIMZIA provide lasting relief from my
RA symptoms?
Yes. In clinical trials, we measured how patients felt at
six months. Many patients experienced lasting relief at
both six months and at one year.
Is CIMZIA proven to slow disease progression?
Yes. In clinical trials, X-rays of patients with RA taking
CIMZIA show reduction of further joint damage at both
six months and one year.
Is CIMZIA unique?
Yes. CIMZIA is the first and only PEGylated treatment
for RA. PEGylation provides a protective barrier around
part of the medicine, so it can stay in your body longer
and can be dosed less often.
How do I take CIMZIA?
CIMZIA is injected under the skin with a prefilled
syringe designed in partnership with OXO GOOD
GRIPS®—a company dedicated to providing
consumer products to make everyday living easier.
Your healthcare provider will show you how your
injection is given.
Does CIMZIA offer flexible dosing?
Yes. CIMZIA offers flexible dosing. After your initial
doses, CIMZIA may be administered every two or four
weeks, based on what your doctor decides is best
for you.
Can I get help paying for CIMZIA?
Yes. Taking prescription medications can be hard
enough without having to worry about affording
them—that is why CIMZIA created CIMpay®, a
program that can help patients who qualify save up to
$500* instantly on every pack of CIMZIA. To find out
