Taking CIMZIA

Banner image

CIMZIA is taken by injection just below the skin. Your CIMZIA prescription comes in 2 formulations—one that is administered at home and another that is administered at your doctor's office. Your doctor will determine which formulation is right for you based on your ability to self-inject and access to a trained caregiver.

Taking CIMZIA at home

This form of CIMZIA comes in a prefilled syringe that you can inject yourself or with assistance by a trained caregiver. If your healthcare provider chooses this option, you can often have your prescription delivered automatically to your home.

Taking CIMZIA at your doctor's office

This form of CIMZIA is delivered to your doctor's office and is prepared and injected there by a trained healthcare provider. If you and your healthcare provider choose this option, you can work with them to set up a regular injection schedule.

It's important to follow initial and maintenance dosing as prescribed by your doctor. Additionally, you should work with your doctor to determine which administration option (at home or at your doctor's office) is right for you.

CIMZIA dosing

There are 2 dosing phases that patients may follow on CIMZIA—starter dosing and maintenance dosing.

Starter Dosing: Maintenance Dosing:
Starter dosing covers your first month of injections, which are provided at the start of therapy at week 0 (day 0), week 2 (day 14), and week 4 (day 28). Each of these doses is 400 mg, given under the skin as 2 separate injections of 200 mg each. After you complete your starter dosing phase, there are 2 flexible maintenance dosing options available to you:
  • One 200 mg injection taken every 2 weeks (14 days) or
  • Two 200 mg injections taken every 4 weeks (28 days)

You and your doctor should decide which maintenance dosing is best for you.
