Here are the key steps to starting CIMZIA:

Getting your prescription

  1. You and your doctor agree to begin treatment with CIMZIA.

  2. Confirm coverage under your insurance plan with help of the CIMplicity®b program, including whether you are eligible for the CIMZIA $0 Co-Pay Savings Programa:

    • Covered under private insurance—medical or pharmacy
      or

    • Potential assistance from the Patient Assistance program (PAP)

  3. Your doctor will schedule any necessary tests or immunizations prior to your first injection.

  4. Discuss with your doctor which is right for you: if you will self-inject CIMZIA at home OR have CIMZIA administered by a healthcare professional at your doctor's office.

  5. Arrange to have your first prescription filled and sent either to your home for self-injection or to your doctor's office or pick up from your local pharmacy. If you are eligible for the CIMZIA $0 Co-Pay Savings Program,a you will need your co-pay savings card number.

When it's time to inject

  1. Take CIMZIA as prescribed by your doctor. This may include initial starter doses of two 200-mg injections each every 2 weeks at day 0, day 14 (week 2), and day 28 (week 4). Your doctor will give you specific instructions and training.

    • Taking CIMZIA at home. For at-home use, your prescription will come in a prefilled syringe. You will receive training from your healthcare provider. Through CIMplicity®,b you can also arrange to have a registered, licensed nurse come directly to your home, free of charge, to provide training for you or a caregiver. Click here to sign up for in-home training. See additional video and booklet instructions. You can also refer to the CIMZIA Instructions for Use booklet that comes in your CIMZIA drug kit

    • Taking CIMZIA at your doctor's office. Simply go to your doctor who will have a healthcare professional administer CIMZIA in the doctor's office

  2. Record the date(s) and location(s) of your CIMZIA injection in your main calendar. Enter a reminder for yourself in your calendar when your next scheduled dose will be. If available, consider scheduling an automatic refill of your medication through your pharmacy.

  3. Sign up for additional patient support services at CIMZIA.com/signup.

Tips for starting CIMZIA

  1. Ask your doctor for your CIMZIA Welcome Kit—complete with travel cooler, a Starting CIMZIA brochure, Instructions For Use brochure, and a Track Your Treatment Diary.

  2. You can sign up for CIMplicity®,b for support services, including insurance benefits coordination, at-home injection training, medication reminders, co-pay support, and sharps syringe disposal. Click here to sign up.

  4. Follow your doctor's instructions: For example, if prescribed "initial loading doses" of CIMZIA, you will have 2 injections of 200 mg each. Take both injections as prescribed by your doctor—do not skip taking one of these injections even if you are feeling better. Always take your medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Reminder: Be sure to inject both syringes one immediately after the other if prescribed 2 injections (400 mg).

  5. Be sure to check in with your healthcare provider regularly and always share how you are doing.
