How to take CIMZIA

Your CIMZIA dosing schedule is determined by the nature of your condition and your doctor's instructions. For some patients, starter doses may be recommended in addition to maintenance dosing. For a better understanding of CIMZIA dosing, watch our video below:

Important Safety Information: Allergic reactions may occur. Signs of an allergic reaction include a skin rash; swelling or itching of the face, tongue, lips or throat; or trouble breathing.

Starter Dosing

For people with psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, Crohn’s disease, or non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis: Starter dosing refers to the first month of injections. The CIMZIA starter dose is provided at the start of therapy at week 0 (day 0), week 2 (day 14), and week 4 (day 28). Each starter dose is 400 mg, given under the skin as two separate injections of 200 mg each.

Maintenance dosing

For people with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, or non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis

After you complete your starter dosing phase, there are two maintenance dosing options available to you:

  • One 200-mg injection taken every two weeks (14 days) or
  • Two 200-mg injections taken every four weeks (28 days)

When administering two injections, be sure to inject both syringes, one right after another.

For people with Crohn's disease

After you complete your starter dosing phase, your maintenance dosing is 400 mg, given under the skin as two separate injections of 200 mg taken every four weeks (28 days). When administering two injections, be sure to inject both syringes, one right after another.

For people with plaque psoriasis

Your maintenance dosing schedule is 400 mg (given as two subcutaneous injections of 200 mg each) every other week, which will be the same as your starter dose. When administering two injections, be sure to inject both syringes, one right after another.*

*If you weigh 90 kg or less, your dermatologist may suggest an alternate dose.
